The Lone Ranger is one of Jamaica's most influential early dancehall DJs. He was twice voted N°1 deejay on the island, in 1979 and 1980. He helped pioneer a newly rhythmic, on-the-beat rhyming style that led DJ toasting into the modern age, and punctuated his lyrics with bizarre exclamations and sound effects ("bim" and "ribbit" were his favorites) that made him perhaps the most imaginative stylist of his time. Thanks to the incredible production skills of French dubmeister Grant Phabao, who crafted for him a splendid album in 2005 (Kulchaklash / to be pronounced "Culture Clash"), and a hit single in 2006 making waves all over the irie globe, with rub-a-dub partner Carlton Livingston and their cover of Dandy Livingston's Message To You Rudie, The Lone Ranger is now back with his 12th album, Sweet Talking, and another big step towards bringing back the golden age of rub-a-dub!

Hint - Laboratory Series No.1: Beryllium

This EP marks the beginning of a new series of releases by Hint. This first, Beryllium, in conjunction with Soundcloud, features three new tracks (including one, Pretty Stable, which will be available worldwide for free download for a limited period) plus two brand new beats for a vocalist competition, the winner of which will get a worldwide release on Tru Thoughts. The lead track, Give It Up channels the summer sounds currently being given a fresh lick of paint by the likes of Dam Funk and Onra - 80s electro, disco and boogie. Lightning bolt synth stabs are applied to perfectly rounded bass line melodies with Honor Roll Crew's Josie Stingray and 1-O.A.K raising the temperature to steaming HOT. Give It Up will also feature on the forthcoming Black Gold 12" alongside other previously unreleased-on-vinyl gems.

Ebo Taylor's Love And Death will be released in CD / 2LP / digital formats. He will be touring with Afrobeat Academy beginning in December 2010. Interest in Ebo Taylor's music has grown in recent years with some incredible live shows in Paris and Berlin in 2009, a series of Ghanaian compilations on a href="http://www.parisdjs.com/index.php/tag/SOUNDWAY">Soundway Records and Analog Africa and an unexpected sample as Usher lifted a riff from Heaven for his hit with Ludacris, She Don't Know. A new Ebo Taylor album was a natural progression. For new album, I wanted to advance the cause of Afrobeat music. Fela started it and we shouldn't just abandon it. We should push it so it is a standard form of music. The result is a firing new set backed by Afrobeat Academy, a Berlin-based collective featuring members of Poets Of Rhythm, Kabu Kabu (Jimi Tenor collaborators) and Ghanaian legends Marijata. Tracks include new versions of Taylor classics Victory and Love And Death and a selection of new compositions including Kwame, celebrating Ghana's late, lamented leader Kwame Nkrumah.
